1 clove
1/2 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
2 tablespoons
fresh green beans
garlic, minced
dried oregano
ground black pepper
fresh grated Parmesan cheese

Stove Temp: simmer
Recipe Cooking Time: 7 to 9 minutes

Garlic Butter Green Beans Directions

Wash green beans, snap off ends if desired, although it is not necessary.
Leave whole or snap green beans in half or even thirds depending on size of beans.
Place green beans into a saucepan.
Add enough water to barely cover the green beans.
Bring to a full boil over high heat.
Reduce heat; simmer beans uncovered 7 – 9 minutes or until crisp tender.
Pour into colander to drain.
In a skillet melt the butter; add garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Add the green beans and cook stirring to coat the beans and heat through, takes 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove garlic butter green beans from skillet and move to a nice serving dish.
Sprinkle the top of garlic butter green beans with grated Parmesan cheese.

Recipe Serves: 5 – 6

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
