Marvelous Marinade Recipe

3/4 cup
1/3 cup
3 tablespoons
1/2 cup
1/3 cup
2 cloves
1 whole
soy sauce
ketchup
sugar
sherry wine
onion, chopped fine
garlic, crushed
lemon

Marinade longer is better, over night marinade is definitely the way to go.


Marinade Recipe Directions

In a medium bowl, mix the soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, wine, chopped onion and crushed garlic.
Juice the lemon and add to mixture.
Grate the rind and add to the marinade mixture.
Mix marinade well.
Pour marvelous marinade over meat.
Marinade the meat for at least one hour before cooking.
Baste meat with more marvelous marinade as you are cooking.

This marinade recipe can be used on any meats.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup.
