Hearty Italian Soup Recipe

1 pound
1 small
1 small
2 – 15 ounce cans
1 – 15 ounce can
2 – 15 ounce cans
1/2 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon
3/4 cup
Italian sausage, hot or mild
green pepper, chopped
onion, chopped
ready cut tomatoes
tomato sauce
chicken broth
garlic, minced
black pepper, ground
dry tortellini pasta cooked

grated parmesan cheese for garnish

Stove Temp: low
Recipe Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Pan Type: large saucepan


Italian Soup Directions

In a skillet, brown the italian sausage, peppers, onion and garlic. Drain and then add tomatoes, tomato sauce and chicken broth.
Simmer hearty Italian soup mixture for 15 minutes covered.
Add the cooked pasta and let set for 15 minutes before serving.
This fine italian soup recipes serves about 5 big bowls of soup.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
