Creamy Cucumber and Onion Salad Recipe

1/2 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
onions, sliced
cucumbers, sliced
cold water
granulated sugar
white vinegar
dill weed
celery seed

Recipe Container Type: salad serving dish

Cucumber and Onion Salad Directions

Layer the sliced onions and cucumbers in a serving dish.
In a saucepan mix the cold water, sugar, and vinegar. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Continue to cook at a boil for 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool. Add mayonnaise and seasonings to the warm vinegar mixture. To mix completely, stir with a wire whisk.
Pour vinegar mixture over the top of cucumber and onion salad vegetables.
Cover cucumber and onion salad. Before serving, refrigerate cucumber onion salad for several hours or overnight.

Note: Sweet onions are the best onions to use. Fresh cucumbers along with sweet onions, make for a perfect recipe.

For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
