Turkey Tacos Recipe

1 pound
1 package
3/4 cup
1 package
2 cups
2 cups
1 large
1 medium
ground turkey
taco seasoning mix
taco shells
lettuce shredded
Mexican blend cheese, shredded
tomato, chopped
onion, chopped

taco sauce

Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time: 6 to 8 minutes
Pan Type: skillet

Turkey Tacos Directions

Preheat your oven.

Cook turkey in skillet over medium heat, stir to break up turkey meat.
Cook turkey until no longer pink, then drain.
Return turkey to skillet and add tacos seasoning and water.
Simmer uncovered until most of liquid is absorbed and turkey tacos mixture has thickened.
Put taco shells on a cookie sheet and heat for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from oven and put 2 to 3 tablespoons of taco filling in each shell.
Top with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese.
Serve turkey tacos with taco sauce and your favorite soup or salad.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
