Turkey Taco Salad Recipe

1 pound
1 package
3/4 cup
1 small
6 cups
6 taco
1 can
1 – 8 ounce package

ground turkey breast
taco seasoning mix
onion, chopped
torn lettuce
salad shells
refried beans
tomatoes, chopped
green onions, sliced
Mexican blend cheese

Sour cream


Stove Temp: medium
Recipe Cooking Time: 10 to 15 minutes
Pan Type: skillet

Turkey Taco Salad Directions

Brown ground turkey meat and the onion in skillet over medium heat. Drain turkey meat and return to skillet.
Add taco seasoning and water.
Cook on low heat until most of liquid is absorbed.
Put taco salad shells on plates.
Heat refried beans and put a layer on the bottom of each taco shell. Continue to make layers of lettuce, turkey mixture, tomatoes, cheese, salsa and sour cream.
Garnish with sliced green onions.
Serve turkey taco salad along with your favorite beverage.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
