Ground Turkey and Bean Burrito Recipe

1 pound
1 small
1 package
3/4 cup
1 – 16 ounce can
1 – 4 ounce can
1 package burrito size
6 ounces
lean ground turkey
onion, chopped
burrito seasoning mix
refried beans
diced green chilies
flour tortillas, steamed
Mexican cheese blend

sour Cream, optional
salsa, optional

Stove Temp: medium/low
Recipe Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Pan Type: saucepan

Ground Turkey Burrito Directions

In a large skillet cook ground turkey with the onions until no longer pink.
Drain ground turkey well.
Add the burrito seasoning package and water.
Stir to mix well.
Bring ground turkey burrito mixture to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Stir turkey burrito every minute or so while cooking.
Add refried beans and diced green chilies and cook until heated through.
Remove burrito mixture from stove.
Place 1/2 cup of the ground turkey mixture onto each steamed burrito tortilla.
Top burritos with 3 tablespoons of cheese.
Fold into rolled up burritos.
Serve ground turkey and bean burrito along with sour cream. Salsa also goes well with ground turkey burritos.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
