Stuffed Turkey Recipe

1/2 teaspoon
whole turkey
butter
rubbed sage
thyme
marjoram
celery salt
onion powder
garlic

 

Oven Temp: 325°
Recipe Cooking Time: See chart below
Pan Type: roasting pan


Stuffed Turkey Directions

Open turkey and remove the giblets from both cavities.
Rinse the cavities and pat dry.
Place turkey, breast side up on a rack in a roasting pan.
Loosely pack the body cavity and neck cavity with stuffing. Skewer the neck cavity to hold the stuffing in if necessary.
Tie the legs together.
In a small saucepan combine the butter, sage, thyme, marjoram, celery salt, onion powder and garlic powder.
Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until butter is melted.
Generously brush all over the turkey.
Insert a meat thermometer between the leg and thigh during the last 30 minutes of baking time.
Cook stuffed turkey until thermometer registers 165° when inserted in the middle of the stuffing.
Baste with butter mixture again if desired.
Remove from oven and cover with foil and let set 15 minutes before carving.

Note: Cook stuffed turkey on a roasting rack for best results. If turkey starts to brown too quickly cover loosely with foil.

  8 – 12 lb. 4 – 5 hours
12 – 16 lb. 4 1/2 – 6 hours
16 – 20 lb. 5 1/2 – 7 hours
20 – 24 lb. 6 1/2 – 71/2 hours
