Deep Fried Prawns & Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

1 1/2 pounds
1/2 teaspoon
1 cup
1/2 cup
2 teaspoons
1/2 teaspoon
1 1/3 cups
3 cups

Sweet & Sour Sauce:
1 cup
3 tablespoons
3 tablespoons
4 tablespoons
1 cup
4 teaspoons
large prawns
salt
flour
cornstarch
baking powder
baking soda
cold water
oil for frying


water
cornstarch
roasted garlic vinegar
ketchup
sugar
molasses

 

Oil Temp: 375°
Recipe Cooking Time: 2 to 3 minutes
Pan Type: deep fryer or large skillet


Deep Fried Prawns Directions

Shell the prawns leaving the tails on and devein them.
Rinse and drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle prawns with salt.
In a large bowl combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and cold water.
Beat with a wire whisk until smooth.
Heat enough oil to cover prawns.
Dip prawns into batter and deep fry until golden brown.
Place deep fried prawns on paper towels to drain.
In a small saucepan combine the water, cornstarch, roasted garlic vinegar, ketchup, sugar and molasses.
Cook over medium heat until thickened.
To serve you can pour sweet and sour sauce on top of deep fried prawns and serve with rice or use sweet and sour sauce as a favorite dipping sauce.
