Teriyaki Lemon Chicken Recipe

1/3 cup
1/3 cup
1/4 cup
1/4 cup
1/4 cup
4 cloves
1 teaspoon
2 pounds
lemon juice, from concentrate
soy sauce
granulated sugar
brown sugar, packed firm
garlic, minced
ground ginger
chicken, legs and thighs


Oven Temp: medium
Recipe Cooking Time: 50 minutes
Pan Type: skillet

Teriyaki Chicken Directions

Brown chicken well on all sides.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Pour off all juices.
Combine the following, lemon juice, soy sauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, minced cloves and ground ginger. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook 5 minutes.
Pour teriyaki lemon sauce over chicken and cook for 20 minutes or until tender.
Serve teriyaki lemon chicken with your favorite side dish.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
