Baked Chicken Oriental Recipe

1 tablespoon
chicken breasts (or fryer, cut up)
butter or margarine, divided
lemon juice
soy sauce


Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Pan Type: baking dish

Chicken Oriental Directions

Preheat Oven.

Wash chicken pieces and drain.
Combine the following ingredients in a paper bag, the flour, salt and pepper.
Close bag and shake to blend well.
Add chicken pieces one at a time and shake to coat.
Melt 1/4 cup of the butter and pour into baking pan.
Add the coated chicken pieces one at a time and turn over once and place skin side down in melted butter.
Bake chicken in hot oven for 30 minutes.
In the meantime combine in a small saucepan the remaining 1/4 cup butter, honey, lemon juice and oriental soy sauce.
Cook over medium heat until butter is melted.
Pour oriental mixture over chicken continue to bake for the remaining 30 minutes basting with honey mixture every 10 minutes.
Bake until chicken is tender and richly glazed.
Serve chicken oriental with your favorite potato and bread.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
