Sweet and Sour Meatball Recipe

1 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
2/3 cup
3/4 cup
1 tablespoon
1/2 cup
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
2 teaspoons
lean ground beef
ground black pepper
quick oats
soy sauce
prepared mustard


Stove Temp: medium
Recipe Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Pan Type: large skillet

Sweet and Sour Meatball Directions

In a large mixing bowl combine; ground beef, salt, pepper, milk and oats.
Mix well.
Shape meat mixture into 12 meatballs.
Heat oil and brown meatballs.
Combine in a small bowl, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and prepared mustard.
Drain fat from browned meat balls.
Pour sweet and sour sauce over meatballs in skillet.
Bring mixture to a boil.
Cover, reduce heat and simmer for allotted time.
Stir sweet and sour meatballs occasionally.
Serve meatballs and sauce over rice, or can be served plain with your favorite appetizers.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
