Turkey Taco Burgers Recipe

1 pound
1 package
1/4 cup
1/4 cup
1/4 cup
1 cup
4 slices
4 slices

lean ground turkey
taco seasoning mix
reduced fat dairy sour cream
chucky salsa
whole wheat hamburger buns, toasted
shredded lettuce
reduced fat Colby Jack cheese


Pan Type: Hot grill or broiler pan

Turkey Burgers Directions

In a large bowl add;
ground turkey, water and taco seasoning.
Mix well and shape into 4 burger patties.
Fry or grill burgers until no longer pink, about 6 to 9 minutes on each side.
In the meantime combine sour cream and salsa.
Mix well.

Put hamburger buns on grill to toast or in toaster oven.
When turkey taco burgers are done, top each with a piece of cheese.

To serve: spread 1 tablespoon sour cream mixture on bottom half of bun.
Place one burger on each.
Top with shredded lettuce and tomato slice.
Spread 1 tablespoon sour cream on top half of bun and place on top of turkey burger.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
