Lighter Choice Breakfast Sausage Recipe

1/2 pound
4 ounces
3 slices
2 tablespoon
1/4 teaspoon
1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon
1/4 cup
1 tablespoon
turkey breast skinless
pork loin
slices bread, cubed
parsley flakes
crushed red pepper
onion powder
chicken broth


Recipe Cooking Time: 4 – 5 minutes on each side
Pan Type: skillet

Breakfast Sausage Directions

Assemble food processor by inserting metal blade.
Cut turkey and pork loin into 1 inch cubes and add to food processor.
Process until meat is chopped fine.
Add the bread cubes, parsley flakes, crushed red pepper, sage, thyme, paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, chicken broth and egg.
Process until well blended.
Put into a bowl, cover and chill 2 hours or overnight to allow flavors to blend.
Wet hands and form sausage into 8 breakfast sausage patties.
Cook over medium heat in hot oil until sausage is browned and cooked through.

Drain sausage on paper towels and serve.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
