Healthy Cookies Recipe

1 teaspoon

1/3 cup
1/3 cup
non-fat dry milk powder
baking powder
whole wheat flour
wheat germ
sea salt
baking soda
peanut butter
dried apricots, chopped
walnuts, chopped
unsalted sunflower seeds
shredded coconut


Oven Temp: 350°
Healthy Recipe Cooking Time: 10 – 12 minutes
Pan Type: cookie sheet

Healthy Cookies Directions

Preheat Oven.

Stir together flour, wheat germ, milk powder, salt, baking powder and soda.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, peanut butter and honey until smooth.
Add egg and vanilla, beat well.
Add healthy flour mixture, mixing well.
Add raisins, chopped apricots, walnuts, sunflower seeds and coconut, mixing well.
Drop by well rounded teaspoons onto un-greased cookie sheet.
Bake healthy cookies in hot oven.
Remove from cookie sheets and let cool on wire racks.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
