Linguini Clam Sauce Recipe

8 ounces
1/4 cup
1 large
2 cloves
2 tablespoons
1/2 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/4 cup
3 – 6.5 ounce cans
1 cup
linguini, uncooked
onion, chopped
garlic, minced
dried basil
parsley, chopped
minced clams, un drained
parmesan cheese, grated

Stove Temp: low
Recipe Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Pan Type: skillet

Linguini and Clam Sauce Directions

Cook linguini pasta according to package direction.
Drain well.
Melt butter in a large skillet.
Add chopped onion and minced garlic.
Cook until tender, stir occasionally.
Add the flour and stir to make a paste.
Add un drained clams, salt, pepper, basil and parsley.
Stir clam sauce constantly to prevent lumping.
Bring mixture to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer clam sauce for 8 minutes.
Pour sauce over linguini, top with cheese and serve with your favorite bread and drink.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
