Beef Steak and Sour Cream Recipe

Beef round steak cooked to perfection and served in its own gravy, over a bed of rice or noodles.

1 pound round steak
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion, powder
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup onion, chopped
16 ounces beef broth
1/2 teaspoon thyme
4 ounce can mushrooms, sliced
10 ounce package frozen green peas, thawed
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
3 – 4 cups hot cooked rice or noodles

Stove Temp: medium
Recipe Cooking Time:
Pan Type: skillet

Beef Steak and Sour Cream Recipe Directions

Cut steak into serving size pieces.
Combine in a shallow dish, the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.
Heat the oil.
Dredge the steak into the flour mixture.
Brown the steak and add the onions, cook steak until tender.
Add the beef broth and thyme.
Bring this recipe mixture to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer until steak meat is tender, should take about 45 to 60 minutes.
Add the drained mushrooms and thawed peas, the cook for 10 minutes.
Add the sour cream and heat thoroughly.
Serve steak and sour cream over rice or noodles. Serve steak along with your favorite warm bread.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt.
