Have a craving for a good bowl of chili?
Spice this simple ground beef chili up with hot ground pepper, chopped jalapeno or mild chiles, cilantro, or other favorite ingredients.

Keep It Simple Silly Chili Bowl

1/2 lb lean hamburger
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon Tony Chachere's creole seasoning
1 cup mini sweet peppers
1 cup chopped onions
1  15 oz. can red kidney beans
1  15 oz. can black beans
1  14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes with onion
1  14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
1  6 oz. can tomato paste
Fresh cilantro for seasoning and garnish

Stove Temp: medium
Recipe Cooking Time:
Pan Type: large soup pan

Simple Chili Directions

Brown the hamburger, onion and peppers in a large soup pan.
Add the chili powder and creole seasoning, stir in well.
Add in the beans, tomatoes and tomato paste stirring well.
Heat the Keep It Simple Silly Chili thoroughly.

Serve silly chili garnished with a sprig of cilantro along with homemade cornbread for a simple feast fit for a king.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
