Cranberry Gelatin Salad Recipe

1 – 20 ounce can
1 – 3 ounce box
1 – 3 ounce box
1 cup
2 – 16 ounce cans
1 large
1 cup
1 tablespoon
crushed pineapple, reserve juice
cranberry Jell-O
raspberry Jell-O
cold water
whole berry cranberry sauce
red delicious apple, chopped
walnuts, chopped
orange peel, grated

Container Type: large serving bowl

Salad Directions

Drain pineapple and reserve the juice.
Measure reserved juice and add enough water to make 1 cup.
Bring juice to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Add Jell-O’s and stir until dissolved.
Add the cold water and stir well.
Let cool to room temperature.
In a large mixing bowl combine the crushed pineapple, whole cranberry sauce, chopped apples and chopped nuts.
Add fruit mixture to the Jell-O and stir well to blend.
Pour mixture into a large serving bowl or mold.
Chill salad until ready to serve.
Serve with a dollop of whipped topping if desired.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
