Christmas Breakfast Bake Recipe

Candy Cane

Here is a great make-ahead breakfast casserole you can make on Christmas eve, and just pop in the oven on Christmas morning. Enjoy opening gifts while breakfast is baking.

6 slices Bread, whole grain
2 Tablespoons Butter
1- 4 ounce can, Mushrooms, stems and pieces
2 cups Milk
2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
6 Eggs, large
1- 4 ounce can, Green Chilies, diced
1/4 cup Onion flakes

Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time:
Christmas Pan Type: 7" x 11" Casserole pan

Christmas Breakfast Bake Directions

Preheat your Christmas oven.

Remove crust from bread.
Butter one side of each bread slice.
Place buttered side down into pan.
In a medium bowl beat the eggs, then whisk in the milk.
Add the chilies, mushrooms, onion flakes and 1 cup cheddar cheese.
Stir all ingredients for the well.
Pour mixture evenly over bread.
Top Christmas Bake with remaining cheese.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Christmas morning, remove from refrigerator and let set at room temperature for one hour before baking.
Bake covered.
Serve a delicious Christmas breakfast along with your favorite fruit.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat.
