Vanilla Cookies Recipe

2 cups
1 1/2 teaspoons
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 cup
1 cup
1
2 tablespoons
2 teaspoons
flour
baking powder
baking soda
salt
butter, softened
sugar
egg
milk or cream
vanilla

Oven Temp: 400°
Recipe Cooking Time: 8 to 10 minutes
Pan Type: cookie sheet


Vanilla Cookies Directions

Preheat Oven.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a large mixing bowl.
In separate bowl cream the sugar and butter until fluffy.
Add egg, milk or cream and vanilla.
Slowly add flour mixture mixing on low speed of mixer.
Turn dough out on waxed paper and divide into two equal parts.
Shape each into a ball and wrap in wax paper.
Chill for 3 hours.
Roll to 1/8" thick.
Cut with cookie cutter.
Place on un-greased cookie sheets and bake.
Remove vanilla cookies to wire racks and cool.

Great cookies for Christmas cutouts!

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
