Orange Slice Bread Recipe

1 – 8 ounce box
1 – 8 ounce bag
1/2 cup
butter, softened
granulated sugar
eggs
flour
salt
baking soda
buttermilk
vanilla
flaked coconut
pecans, chopped
dates, chopped
orange slice candies
flour

Oven Temp: 300°
Recipe Cooking Time: 90 minutes
Pan Type: 2 – 8 x 4" loaf pans


Orange Slice Bread Directions

Preheat your oven.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
In a separate bowl mix together the flour, salt and baking soda.
Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
Add the vanilla, coconut, chopped pecans and the dates, mix well.
Put the remaining flour into a medium size bowl.
Use kitchen shears to cut orange slice candies into small pieces, after cutting roll orange slices in the flour to coat before adding to batter.
Pour batter evenly into the 3 greased loaf pans.
Bake for the allotted time or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Remove from oven and place on wire racks to cool.
Wrap bread in foil when completely cool.
Then place in plastic bags to store.
Keeps well.

Recipe Note: This orange slice bread can be made in 3 – 6.5” loaf pans or baked in a large Bundt pan and 1 – 8 x 4" loaf pan.
