Favorite Pumpkin Pie Recipe

I have tried several differant recipes for pumpkin pie, and the pies where I use my own home grown pumpkin are the ones that have the nice creamy texture.


2 – 10" Unbaked pie shells
4 large Eggs
1 – 29 ounce can solid pumpkin
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons
pumpkin pie spice
24 ounces evaporated milk

Oven Temp: 375°
Recipe Cooking Time:
Pan Type: 10" pie plate

Favorite Pumpkin Pie Directions

Preheat your oven.

Place eggs in a large mixing bowl and beat until fluffy.
Add the canned pumpkin, sugar, salt, pumpkin pie spice and mix until well blended.
Add the milk and beat on low speed of mixer for 1 minute.
Pour into 2 unbaked pie shells.
Place pies into oven and bake for the allotted time or until set.
Cool your favorite pumpkin pie on a wire rack completely before serving.
Great with fresh whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon.
Serve pumpkin pie after your favorite holiday meal.

Note: If you notice that the edges of the crust are browning too quickly, simply lay a piece of foil loosely on the top of the pie.

Yield: 2  9" pies (8 servings each)

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
