1/2 teaspoon
3 ounces
1 – 12 ounce can
1 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon
2 tablespoons
baked pie shell
unsweetened chocolate
evaporated milk
egg yolks, beaten
extra virgin coconut oil, organic

Recipe Pan Type: 9" pie plate

Favorite Chocolate Pie Directions

Combine in a large saucepan the sugar, flour, cornstarch and salt, mix well with wire whisk to remove any lumps.
Add the unsweetened chocolate, evaporated milk and the water.
Cook mixture stirring constantly with wire whisk to prevent lumping, until it comes to a boil.
Add two spoons of chocolate mixture to beaten egg yolks and stir.
Pour egg mixture into chocolate mixture in saucepan, continue to cook until thick.
Cook while stirring for about 1 minute.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla and coconut oil, stir for 5 minutes or until coconut oil is mixed in completely.
Pour filling into cooled pie shell.
Let set until room temperature then refrigerate several hours before serving with your favorite coffee or tea.
To serve, how about trying our coconut flavored whipped cream, which can be found in the desserts section, under the miscellaneous category.

Note: Coconut oil contains no trans fatty acids and is not hydrogenated.
It is a healthier choice and is ideal for cooking and baking.

Recipe Serves: about 8

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
