Moms Apple Pie Recipe

Hot Apple Pie

7 cups
1/3 cup
1/3 cup
1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon
3/4 teaspoon
1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons
apples, cored, peeled and sliced
sugar
brown sugar
grated lemon peel
lemon juice
cinnamon
butter
flour

pastry for 2 – 9” pies

Oven Temp: 425°
Recipe Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Pan Type: 9" pie plate


Moms Apple Pie Directions

Preheat your oven.

In a large bowl, mix apples, sugar, brown sugar, lemon peel, lemon juice and cinnamon.
Set aside.
Divide dough in half.
On a lightly floured surface, with floured rolling pin, roll dough into a circle to fit pie plate.
Put first crust in pie plate.
Pour apple mixture on top.
Dot with butter.
Roll out second half and place on top of apple filling.
Tuck edges under bottom crust and flute.
Cut slits in top of crust so stream can escape.
Bake moms apple pie until golden brown.
If apple pie browns too quickly, put tin foil on top.
Serve warm pie with scoop of your favorite ice cream.
