Spicy Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

1/2 cup
1/2 cup
1 cup
1/2 cup
1 large
1 1/2 cups
1 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon
1 teaspoon
butter, softened
shortening
granulated sugar
brown sugar, packed firm
egg
all purpose flour
oats
baking soda
cinnamon

sugar for dipping

Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time: 10 to 12 minutes
Pan Type: cookie sheet


Spicy Oatmeal Cookies Directions

Preheat oven, spray pan with nonstick pan spray.

In a large mixing bowl cream the butter, shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar and egg, mix until light and fluffy.
Add the flour, oats, baking powder and cinnamon.
Mix until all the dry oatmeal cookies ingredients are well moistened, cover with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
Roll cookies dough into balls about the size of a walnut.
Place spicy oatmeal cookies onto a prepared cookie sheet.
Dip a glass into sugar and press the cookie down.
Bake spicy cookies for the allotted time.

Makes About: 36 spicy oatmeal cookies
