Chocolate Chip Molasses Cookies Recipe

You could say that molasses and granulated sugar are the same as brown sugar but I think it’s MUCH more than that. Yes, they are both brown but mixing them yourself and having the added goodness of the molasses, really does perks up the flavor profile of a chocolate cooke. Um, um, good.

Chocolate Chip and Molasses Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 3/4 cups Namaste gluten free flour (just flour)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 – 11.5 ounce bag bittersweet chocolate chips

Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time:
Pan Type: cookie sheet

Chocolate Chip Molasses Cookies Directions

Preheat your oven.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and molasses, add eggs and vanilla.
Beat until fluffy.
Add flour, salt and baking soda, mix thoroughly.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Bake chocolate chip molasses cookies until lightly browned.
Transfer chocolate molasses cookies to a wire rack to cool.

Recipe Yields: 3 dozen cookies

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
