Chocolate Hazelnut Bars Recipe

2 cups
1 1/3 cups
3/4 cup
1 1/4 cups
3/4 cup
1/2 cup
1 teaspoon
1 – 12 ounce bag
flour
brown sugar, packed firm
butter
hazelnuts, toasted, chopped
butter
brown sugar, packed firm
vanilla
bittersweet morsels
nonstick pan spray

Oven Temp: 350°
Recipe Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Pan Type: baking pan


Chocolate Hazelnut Bars Directions

Preheat your oven. Spray pan with nonstick pan spray.

In a large mixing bowl combine the flour and brown sugar and mix well.
Add the cold butter and cut in with a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the chopped nuts.
Press crumbs into the bottom of prepared pan.
In a large saucepan combine the second amount of butter and brown sugar and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Pour brown sugar mixture over the top of crumbs and spread out.
Bake for the allotted time.
Remove from oven and put on wire rack.
Evenly sprinkle the chocolate morsels over top of caramel.
Let set for 2 minutes to melt before spreading out.
Cool completely before cutting and serve with your favorite drink.

Recipe Makes: about 24 – 36 bars
