Penuche Recipe

3 cups
1 cup
1/8 teaspoon
1 cup
1 teaspoon
brown sugar
milk
salt
chopped nuts (optional)
vanilla

Recipe Pan Type: 8" square pan


Penuche How To Directions

Mix together sugar and milk, cook stirring constantly until candy thermometer reaches 238°, or until a little of the mixture forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water.
Remove from heat and stir in the butter, vanilla and salt.
Set aside until pan feels cool to the touch.
Beat with wooden spoon until mixture begins to hold its shape, add the nuts if desired and pour into buttered pan.
Cool before cutting.

Store penuche in an airtight container.
