Cathy’s Shepherd Pie Recipe

1 large
1 can
1 can
1 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
6 cups
4 ounces
1 teaspoon
lean ground beef
bulk sausage
onion, chopped
French style green beans, drained
cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
garlic, powder
ground black pepper
mashed potatoes
American cheese, shredded
onion powder

Oven Temp:350°
Recipe Cooking Time: 30 – 35 minutes
Pan Type: 9 x 13” pan

Preheat your oven.

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, sausage and onion until no longer pink. Drain well.

Add the un drained green beans, undiluted soup, onion powder, garlic powder and ground black pepper, mix well.

Pour mixture into pan.

Spread the mashed potatoes over the top. Sprinkle shredded cheese over all and bake for the allotted time or until bubbly.

Recipe Serves: 8 to 10

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
