Perfect White Bread Recipe

5 3/4 – 6 1/4 cups
2 1/2 teaspoons
2 1/4 cups
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
2 teaspoons
white flour
dry yeast
milk
sugar
shortening
salt

Oven Temp: 375°
Recipe Cooking Time: 45 – 60 minutes
Pan Type: 2 – 8 1/2" loaf pans


White Bread Directions

Preheat Oven.

In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups of white flour, yeast and stir. In a small saucepan combine the milk, salt and shortening. Heat until milk registers (115° – 120°) on candy thermometer. Shortening needs not to melt all the way. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on low for 1 minute. Scrap the sides of bowl as you go with a rubber spatula. Add the rest of the white flour ½ cup at a time but do not use more than the maximum amount. Once dough gets to heavy for the mixer, turn out on to a floured surface and continue adding flour until dough is smooth and is no longer elastic. Put dough into a bowl that has been rubbed with oil. Cover and let rise until white bread dough doubles in a warm area. After dough has doubled in size, poke 2 fingers in it to punch it down. Divide the perfect white bread dough in half. Shape into a loaf and put into a loaf pan. Cover dough and let rise until double. Bake perfect white bread in you preheated oven for allotted time. If your bread browns to quickly, cover the white bread with foil. Remove white bread from oven and invert bread to wire racks to cool.
