Braided Cheese Bread Recipe

2 1/2 teaspoons
3/4 cup
1 tablespoon
1 teaspoon
3 large
1/2 cup
3 1/2 cups
3/4 cup
3/4 cup
dry yeast
warm water
sugar
salt
eggs
butter softened
bread flour
Swiss cheese, diced small
sharp cheddar cheese, diced small

Oven Temp: 375°
Recipe Cooking Time: 35 – 40 minutes
Pan Type: baking sheet


Cheese Bread Directions

Preheat Oven.

Put yeast into a large mixing bowl. Heat the water to warm, (120°). Pour water over the yeast and stir until dissolved. Add the sugar, salt, eggs and softened butter. Mix with mixer until the butter is almost melted. Add 2 cups of flour and beat until smooth. Stir in the remaining flour with a wooden spoon. Knead until smooth and no longer elastic. Oil a bowl. Place dough in the bowl and turn upside down to oil both sides. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise until double in size. Punch down and add the cheese.

Recipe Note: Swiss and cheddar are my favorite combination for cheese bread.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier.
