Honey Nut Bread Recipe

3 teaspoons
1/4 cup
3/4 cup
2 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon
3/4 cup
1 cup
1/2 teaspoon
baking powder
butter or margarine, melted
chopped walnuts
egg, beaten
grated orange peel

Oven Temp: 350º
Recipe Cooking Time: 50 – 60 minutes
Pan Type: bread loaf pan

Honey Nut Bread Directions

Preheat Oven.

Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; mix well then set aside. Combine the honey, butter, milk, egg and orange peel in large mixing bowl; then beat well. Add the flour mixture beating until smooth; stir in the nuts. Pour honey nut bread batter into a greased and floured bread loaf pan. Place honey nut bread into oven to bake. After 50 minutes check with toothpick in center. If it comes out clean, remove from oven. Remove honey nut bread from pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
