Betty Spoon Bread Recipe

1/2 cup
1 cup
1/2 cup
1/2 teaspoon
2 tablespoon
1 1/2 teaspoons
2 large		 white corn meal
boiling water
milk
salt
butter
baking powder
eggs
nonstick pan spray

Oven Temp: 400°
Recipe Cooking Time: 20 – 25 minutes
Pan Type: 1 quart casserole dish


Spoon Bread Directions

Preheat the oven.

Place corn meal into a large bowl. Pour boiling water over the corn meal. Beat in the milk, salt, butter, baking powder and eggs. Spray the bread pan with nonstick spray. Pour the corn meal mixture into a prepared bread pan. Bake Betty spoon bread until set and cooked. Serve spoon bread hot with butter and honey if desired.

Recipe Serves: about 6

Note: Spoon bread is a southern specialty and a favorite bread recipe in many homes.
