100% Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

for Bread Machines

3/4 cup
2 teaspoons
2 teaspoons
2 1/2 cups
1 tablespoon
1 teaspoon
1 1/2 tablespoons
1 1/2 teaspoons
water (80°)
molasses
honey
whole-wheat flour
powdered milk
salt
butter, cut into pieces
active dry yeast

Pan Type: bread machine


Whole Wheat Bread Directions

Add to bread machine in the following order.

Water, molasses, honey, whole wheat flour, dry milk and salt.
Tap the sides of pan to shake down ingredients and level.
Place a quarter of the butter in each corner of bread machine.
Make a well in the center of flour mixture and add the yeast.
Put bread pan in machine chamber.
Twist to lock in place and close the lid.
Program the bread machine for whole wheat bread according to manufactures instructions.

Recipe Yields: 1 whole wheat bread loaf

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt.
