Cheese Fondue Recipe

8 ounces
8 ounces
1/4 cup
1 clove
2 cups
1/2 cup
1/8 teaspoon
2 loaves
Swiss cheese, shredded
gruyere cheese, shredded
heavy whipping cream
ground white pepper
sour dough bread, torn or cut into 1” cubes

Recipe Pan Type: fondue pot

Cheese Fondue Directions

Toss the flour with the cheese. Rub inside of fondue cooking pot with the garlic and then discard the garlic. Pour the milk, cream and pepper into the fondue pot. Simmer fondue just until it is good and hot. Add the cheese and stir until the cheese fondue is melted. Keep the cheese fondue over a hot burner to stay warm. Sprinkle fondue with paprika before serving. Serve this cheese fondue recipe with your favorite bread.

Recipe Serves: 6 to 8

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
