Black Bean Dip Recipe

2 – 16 ounce cans
1/4 cup
2 cloves
1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
1/8 teaspoon
black beans, drained
onion, chopped
garlic
mild chili powder
ground cumin
oregano
salt
ground black pepper

Recipe Container: food processor

Black Bean Dip Directions

Combine in a food processor the drained black beans, chopped onion, garlic, chili powder, ground cumin, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix black bean dip until mixture is smooth.

Recipe Note: If you like your foods a little hotter and spicier use pure ground hot chili powder.

Recipe Note 2: Come on now, it doesn't get much simpler than this unless you buy it. This black bean dip recipe does taste better and it is better for you. Preservatives are not one of my favorites, but healthy good food is.

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
