Refrigerator Pickles Recipe

Refrigerator pickles are ready in just 24 hours.

3 large
1 large
1 large
1 tablespoon
1 teaspoon
1 clove
1/8 teaspoon
3/4 cup
1/2 cup
green pepper, chopped
celery seed
garlic minced
granulated sugar

Recipe Container ~ large glass bowl or jar

Refrigerator Pickles Directions

Thinly slice the cucumbers into a large glass container.
Seed the green pepper, then chop the peppers. Next, chop the onion.
Add the minced garlic to the mixture.
Sprinkle with salt, celery seed and pepper.
Add all ingredients to cucumbers.
Gently stir to blend.
Cover and let set for 1 hour.

In a quart jar with lid combine the sugar and vinegar.
Shake well to blend and pour over cucumber pickles mixture.
Cover and refrigerate pickles for at least 24 hours before serving.
(Pickles will keep for 7 days in refrigerator).

Substitute, substitute, substitute. Recipes were made to be messed with. Use alternative ingredients to make your recipes healthier. Cook with broth (low-sodium vegetable, low-fat chicken or beef) instead of with oils. Use vinaigrettes or citrus-juice-based dressings instead of creamy ones, which are often full of saturated fat. Try olive oil, skim milk, or yogurt instead of butter or cream. Re-work dessert recipes that require heavy cream with evaporated skim milk or yogurt. For cakes and other desserts, substitute fresh-fruit puree as a topping instead of frosting. And one of my favorites: pancakes with applesauce, not maple syrup. These changes will give your favorite recipes great new flavor, and your food will be healthier!
